The group was established in 1998 by
Maristela A. Zutautas Zanarin, Sandra C. Mikalauskas Petroff
and Silvia Tubelis. The group has the goal to rescue, to keep
and to divulge the Lithuanian culture through the folkloric
dances. In a globalized world, it is important to preserve
what is in the roots of people, so they won’t lose their
identity.
Established in 1971, the group has
been presenting for the past 36 years Lithuanian Folkloric
dances in many cultural festivals, as: Expoflora (Holambra);
Cowboy’s Festival (Barretos); Flowers’s Festival
(Atibaia); Spring’s Festival (Jacareí); International
festival of Culture (Liberdade - São Paulo); Immigrant
Festival (Immigration Museum - São Paulo); It has also
been participating on International Festivals of Folkloric
Lithuanian Dances in the USA, Canada and Lithuania.
The
group was founded 15 years ago, by Ponia Magdanela Vinksnaitiene,
but for different reasons it had stoped its activity. In 2004,
the group was restarted, in honor to its founder and using
the same name. It still has an important work among children,
and it still follow the same ideals from its beginning. The
goal of the group is to work with children in general, through
music, dance, art, culture, and language of Lithuania. It
counts with the support of many musiciansd of the community.
Currently it is coordinated by Andréa Kasteckas, Clara
Rimkus and Laima and Audra Zizas.
